From: Sender Unspecified  - message does not trasmit
I admit. I am a bit stumped by this one and have a suspicion as to what caused it. Here is the scenario: Given: Mobile user pressed for time Important message to be sent - does not send Item in SENT items folder, time and date stamp updated. From: field of header reads "Sender Unspecified" Exchange 2000 - w/ all the service packs. Outlook 2003 with all the patches and service packs. Here is what I think happened. The user hit send and then - before the system could replicate - he closed his Outlook down. Exchange updated the folder with the time stamp, but the blank caused the message never to transmit. I have verified that it never left by validating the SPAM filters and the transmission logs. Nothing before or since matches the above. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

That is a weird scenario. When the user clicks Send, the message is put in theOutbox folder. Once in the Outbox, the server's message transport system picks the message up and processes it. Only after that is the message put in the Sent Items folder. Is the mobile user using Outlook in local cache mode? Or are they using POP3/SMTP? This sure sounds like a client-side issue.
